I gave this book to 12 ladies for a “mini retreat” last month. We took a weekend camping and made sure to spend time in the Word and reading good books. I will share all about that soon but this book hit us on all the topics we as people/women struggle. He nails topics like peace in the midst of a hard situation, comfort from the Lord, and that little thing called worry.
I devoured this book and have gifted it to so many people. This book will change your life but beware – your eyes will be opened to your own hidden idols.
“We replace God with people. Instead of a biblically guided fear of the Lord, we fear others.” One quote from the book -enough said.
Y’all know that I firmly believe that we are to use our houses as an opportunity for the gospel – this book. YES and AMEN. Read it. Now.
“The Bible has nothing whatsoever to say about midlife crisis. The Bible tells you everything you need to know about midlife crisis.”
This is not just for those in midlife, Paul David Tripp helps us understand our world “By providing us with context—an honest and expansive portrayal of the real world. Many people are lost simply because they do not understand the context in which they live, work, play, and worship. They are constantly surprised and unprepared because they have not benefited from the functional wisdom that the Bible affords.”
I read EVERYTHING he writes and our discipleship group just finished one of his studies on Right Now Media called Women Helping Women and have now moved on to his study on marriage. His parenting books – you need if you are a parent.
Keep reading and tell me your top 5 books you are reading right now – I need some ideas! I am headed for the hills this week with Brad.
