Bring on the Rain

I can’t remember the last time we have had rain here in Bossier City. It has been too long. Yesterday I got all excited because it got dark and the wind started blowing but it no rain. It was just a dirt storm and not a thunderstorm. I kept waiting for the rain, my storm was missing something – rain.  We needed rain. Our yard is so dry it is looks like the grand canyon. It needs the nourishment of rain.

I have been thinking about the verses in 1 Corinthians 13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and  if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.”

I am often like the storm yesterday. I often miss the most important part, love. I am just a big dust storm with no nourishment. When the storm ends, there is nothing left but a mess and a dry yard.

The love is the nourishment on a dry and weary people.

May we all remember in the midst of the storm to rain down love on those around us.

Ok, we finally got a little rain towards the end of the storm. However, it didn’t last long and didn’t help my yard. Love, like rain, needs to be constant and consistent to make a difference.
