It Accomplishes

There is a moment in the depiction of the interchange between Pilot and Jesus where Pilot thinks the power to save or crucify Jesus all rests on him. While watching the Passion of the Christ, I am reminded through the look Jesus gave Pilot and the words he said, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.” The only power Pilot had been given to him through the Father.
This is a great comfort to me, just like Satan was given clear direction from God as to what he could do to Job – our lives too are under the authority of the Father. Nothing, I mean, nothing has not been cleared through Him. He controls it all.
Now you must be asking – if He controls it all, why is their pain in my life? I don’t begin to understand it all, why bad things happen.
But I know this, just like the cross was painful and heartbreaking IT ACCOMPLISHED ITS PURPOSE! The pain and suffering of the cross accomplished the salvation of many.
I also know the result of pain and suffering in my life – utter dependence on Him.
Today, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus! One day, all those who know Him, will celebrate and this pain here on Earth will seem like a fleeting moment.
The day of Jesus’ death was heartbreaking but that was not the end of the story. The resurrection came and so will the resurrection of pain and death in your life.
Thank God for a glorious end to the HIS STORY!
