It in unofficially the National John 3:16 Day. I was pondering this verse while driving home from taking the boys to school. I spent about an 45 minutes in the car twice a day so I get lots of thinking time.
John 3:16 is probably one of the most well-known verses and I can say it so fast I don’t even think through it.
I am challenging you to think through the verse today. Ask God for fresh eyes to see what John 3: says
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life!”
“For God so loved the world” I opened my handy Logos software and plugged in John 3:16 and did a word study.
“Loved” – especially of love as based on evaluation and choice, a matter of will and action;
Do we really love those around us? Do we choose to love those around us – as a matter of will and action? Is our love displayed through action?
“For God so loved the world that He gave”
God’s love was an act of will – He loved us so much the HE GAVE!!
What are you giving to show the love of God around us? God gave His ONLY Son.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son”
God gave something that was so important and so loved by Him – He sacrificed His son for us.
I must ask myself, what am I sacrificing for those around us?
God sacrificed His Son that we might have eternal life.
What are you giving that others might see God through you?
