“It Wasn’t Me”

Daily Light July 22

The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. (Rom. 6:10, Is.53:12, Heb.9:28, 1 Peter 2:24; Heb. 10:14, Heb. 7:24-25, Rom. 5:8-9, 1 Pet. 4:1-2)

This week I have been at my parents house and we have had so much fun. We have lots of cousins and so we get plenty of playtime. In the pool yesterday, the conversation went like this

Cousin: “Jackson hit me.”

Jackson: “No, I didn’t.”

Cousin: “Yes, you did.”

Jackson: “No, I didn’t.”

Me: “Actually, I saw the whole thing and Brad ran into you.”

Brad: “No, I didn’t”

Me: “Yes, you did”
Are you starting to get the point. I had watched the whole thing and knew that Brad had ran into him – he didn’t mean to but accidentally bumped him in all the pool play.  After much fighting  discussion, everyone moved on and pool time continued.

Then my mom this morning told me how her Bible reading was about how Jesus was the only truly innocent one yet bore our punishment. Removing all the blame – Jesus paid for our sin. I sit here amazed at how He, the One who never made one mistakes, no sin – took my punishment.

The only One who could truly say “No, I didn’t” or “It wasn’t me”

Jesus Said: “Forgive them, for they know not what they do”
