Try Something for Me?!

Have you noticed that I can’t write without excessive use of exclamation points? It is awful! 🙂

Anyway, I was on my run this morning and praying and thinking. My playlist was Brad leading worship live at church – just a mix of worship songs. As I was on my cool down, I was praying that God would light a fire in our love for him and our complete adoration of Him. Our pastor brought it this weekend on living a life a worship and how our sunday services should not be the start of our worship but a overflow. I was asking God to make that true in my life.

Then this song came on: At The Foot of The Cross (the italics are my thoughts)

At the foot of the cross
Where grace and suffering meet
show me your grace with my suffering Lord
You have shown me Your love thank you for continually showing me your love
Through the judgment You received
for bearing the judgement
And You’ve won my heart
And You’ve won my heart
YOU HAVE WON MY HEART – hands raised – yes, in the middle of the street
Now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty Literally handing my ashes to you – visualize putting them in your hand and raising the “ashes” to Him
And wear forgiveness like a crown Let me see and know your forgiveness
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
picturing me at the foot of the cross – on my knees –
I lay every burden down saying my burdens – now laying them down
At the foot of the cross
picture again laying them down

At the foot of the cross visualize you at the cross again
Where I am made complete
feel His completeness
You have given me life thank Him for the life He has given you
Through the death you bore for me
Feel the magnitute of the death on THAT cross you are kneeling at
And You’ve won my heart now, bolt out that HE HAS WON YOUR HEART –
And You’ve won my heart </em>DO it again – LOUD VOICES
Now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty Now, do that some process again
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross

Trade these ashes in for beauty and again!
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross

And You’ve won my heart Here we go, hands raised fully in the air – bolt it out!
And You’ve won my heart AGAIN
Now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty Those things you didn’t trade in the first time – do it this time
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy

I lay every burden down Those ‘other’ burdens – lay them down at the cross – NOW(that was in a Jack Bauer tone – do it NOW Told you I was bossy!
At the foot of the cross

Trade these ashes in for beauty And another time – lay it all out there!
And wear forgiveness like a crown Now, walk a little taller – knowing your wear His forgiveness
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy Imagine the grassy, muddy hill, kneeling where the cross is driven into the ground – head down, weeping in sorrow and gratitude for the mercy given
I lay every burden down Keep laying them down – no more burdens left
At the foot of the cross you are laying there at the foot of the cross

I lay every burden down Keep going!
I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross
At the foot of the cross
At the foot of the cross

Now about this time, I was home. The next song – “I Surrender All”
Not get down on your knees on your floor and sing your heart out!!

All to Jesus I surrender;
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.
Refrain:
I surrender all,
I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.
All to Jesus I surrender;
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.
All to Jesus I surrender;
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.
All to Jesus I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power;
Let Thy blessing fall on me.
All to Jesus I surrender;
Now I feel the sacred flame.
Oh, the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!

Oh baby! We just had a worship service!!

P.S. I am not biased or anything – but the way Brad leads these songs ROCKS! It was just PERFECT!
